Co-op aims

The principal aim of the True Food Community Co-op is to take affordable organic foods and eco-friendly products to where the people of Reading and surrounding areas live.

As most people live on the edge of town rather than right in the middle, it means that much of our shopping requires us to travel a considerable distance. With the True Food Co-op, the market comes to you, reducing the burden of individual transportation on the environment and giving many more people a real option to go organic and go local.

We are a not-for-profit organisation that reinvests any surplus finances from trading, back into the co-operative and into causes and projects that benefit the community.

The co-op looks to attract people that want to try out new ideas for obtaining and promoting:

  • affordable organic foods
  • co-operative principles and volunteering
  • sustainability in the environment
  • community building and networking

The Co-op is an Industrial & Provident Society registered with the FSA - Financial Services Authority. The Co-op's legal Constitution was submitted to the FSA in 2004, and the True Food Community Co-operative Ltd was formally registered on 15th December 2004.
