Spring Cleaning

“Oh, just look at those cobwebs!”

That’s the annual cry when the sun breaks through at this time of year. We can see all the dust and smears that we’ve been able to ignore for so long. But that doesn’t mean we have to buy lots of commercial cleaning materials before we can start spring cleaning. There are much cheaper and healthier alternatives which are now on sale at True Food, most of them through the SESI refill arrangement, where you simply bring your own container.

Spring is also a time we like to look our best. Sore hands and wind chapped faces betray the toll that winter has taken on our skin, and there are a multitude of creams and ointments on the market claiming to cure the problem. But before you splash out your hard earned cash, look at the recipes for homemade toiletries described by Diana in this issue of Pulse.

Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those members who clean our shop. If I mention Jacqui and Amelia in particular, it’s only because I know how often they volunteer. Everyone who cleans is doing a vital job, especially in a shop that is selling food. The last hour of our day from 6-7pm, when we close the shop, is a crucial time for cleaning; so if that’s a time of day you could volunteer to help, that would be much appreciated.
